Slash Chord Trainer

Take the root off a 7th chord and the three notes left form a triad. So play the root in the left hand and think of a simple triad in the right: Cmaj7 is Em over C, Cm7 is E♭ over C. The right hand never has to find a crowded four-note inversion, and the sound is open, with the root down low. Drill every chord type as single chords or through IV–iii–ii–I and ii–V–I progressions in all 12 keys, with a 1, 1–3, 1–5 or 1–7 left hand — along with a metronome, by self-check on any piano, or checked live on a MIDI keyboard.
